The Fort Collins Local Lending Company’s mission is to assist in the economic redevelopment of downtown Fort Collins, North College Avenue and the surrounding area by serving as a supplemental source of capital for those interested in improving their properties.
In the 1970s, many historic Fort Collins buildings stood in stages of decay, appearing neglected and unappreciated. Today, they create a colorful ambiance for local residents and visiting tourists who enjoy shopping, dining and celebrating events in this unique section of town. The revitalization of Old Town and the downtown district owes much of its success to the efforts of the Fort Collins Local Lending Company (LLC).
The LLC continues to facilitate the rejuvenation of downtown Fort Collins, the North College area, and portions of the Midtown area, by offering low-interest loans for facade and interior renovation work. As a private, nonprofit organization, the LLC is able to provide funding at more favorable interest rates than those generally available in the conventional market.
Since its inception in 1977, the LLC has funded over 100 projects ranging from its popular facade “facelifts” program and related interior renovations to helping purchase endangered historic properties. Although the LLC has kept a low profile over the years, it has played an important role toward its goal of aesthetic enhancement of the downtown area and general economic development of the City of Fort Collins.
